New Upgrades Bring Brighter Spaces and Better Comfort to Glendale Adult Center in Arizona

The Glendale Adult Center in Arizona offers a wide range of programs, from fitness and wellness to games and hobbies. The facility recently completed a series of energy efficiency and infrastructure upgrades designed to improve comfort, lighting quality and overall building performance. The project supports the city’s long-term sustainability goals while enhancing the daily experience for community members.

Lighting Enhancements

Roughly 65% of the building’s lighting was converted to LED fixtures, delivering brighter, more consistent illumination across classrooms, common areas and multipurpose spaces. The new LED systems also reduce energy use and lower ongoing maintenance needs.

Improved Building Controls

Upgrades to programmable thermostats, HVAC controls and occupancy sensors allow staff to better manage temperature and lighting throughout the facility. These improvements provide more reliable comfort and create opportunities for greater operational efficiency.

Solar Canopy Installation

A newly installed solar canopy now offsets a portion of the center’s electricity use, lowering operating costs and supplying clean, renewable energy. The canopy also provides shaded outdoor seating for visitors.

“These upgrades help us provide better lighting, more comfortable spaces and energy savings for the city,” said Jeffrey Flinn, construction manager for McKinstry. “The Adult Center is a vital community hub, and these improvements make a noticeable difference for everyone who uses the facility.”

The combined upgrades reduce utility expenses for the city and reinforce Glendale’s commitment to sustainable, efficient public buildings.
